Table Mountain and down to Cape Point
An early ascent of the famous Table Mountain, your guide will point out the highlights of one of the worlds most famous views. After the decent, the tour continues to Cape Point.
On a scenic drive along the length of the Cape Peninsula you will be shown the historical memorials of Cecil John Rhodes, South Africa's first diamond magnate. After that experience the oldest wine farm in South Africa , Simon Van der Stel's Groot Constantia, will be visited.
After a short drive from Groot Constantia you will enter the old fishing harbour of Kalk Bay that is located in the heart of False Bay . The tour will proceed to Simonstown, where you can enjoy the antics of the little men in their dinner jackets, namely the Penguin colony of Boulders.
Finally, the tour winds down into the Cape Point nature reserve. Your guide will point out various historical monuments and spectacular views from the tip of the Cape of Good Hope . Please be warned, you will most probably encounter the mischievous baboon troop, these baboons appear tame, and are attracted by food. Please do not feed the baboons and avoid carrying food in front of them, as they will attack you to get the food. You are in Africa after all.
The journey back to Cape Town will take you along Chapman's Peak drive into the sleepy town of Hout Bay. A short boat ride from Hout Bay harbour is Duiker Island. Here we will introduce you to the sights and smells of one of the largest seal colonies off the Cape Peninsula.
Cape Town and Kirstenbosh Gardens or Table Mountain and Robben Island
This outing is designed to introduce you to the sights and sounds of Cape Town . The tour includes a trip out to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, where a ferry is caught out to Robben Island , the place where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 yrs. Upon return to dry land, we will visit the apartheid museum in District six. Here you will be able to gather first hand information on the horrors of the Group Areas Act and the awful pass laws of the old government.
No trip to Cape Town is complete without a visit to the world famous Kirstenbosh Botanical Gardens. Here you will be able to view the best of South Africa's fauna and flora in a beautifully landscaped environment.
The outing ends with a sundowner trip up Table Mountain , where you can watch the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean and the city lights begin to twinkle in the evening haze.
Wineland Tours
South African wine is world famous, and a trip out into the heart of the wine producing farm land is only an hour away. Your guide will take you on adventures through the various wine farms of Stellenbosh,
Franschhoek and Paarl. Starting with the wine farm Bergkelder in Stellenbosh, what follows is an informative and descriptive tour that provides you with in-depth local knowledge of the region. You will have the opportunity to taste some of the finest wines ever produced, purchase rare estate wines and relax in the splendour of the Boland Mountains.
Arrangements can be made, should you require a visit to the Oliphant's River or Robertson Wine routes.
The Hermanus Whale Watching Adventure (July to November)
During the winter months in South Africa, the coastline becomes alive with sea life. Large Southern Right whales migrate to the Cape waters to give birth to their young. Whales can be seen along the entire Cape coastline, but it is in a vibrant little town called Hermanus, that the best land based viewing of these whales is possible.
African Zest Tours offers one day adventures out to Hermanus with the main focus on bringing you a close encounter of the whale variety.
The tour departs from Cape Town in the morning. It follows the coastline past the pristine beach’s of Gordon’s Bay and Kogel Bay. The tour passes through the seaside resorts of Betty’s Bay and Kleimond and on into Hermanus. Here both land based whale watching as well as boat charters can be organized for the best possible angles. Keep an ear out for the Whale crier to discover just where the whales are converging.
The tour returns to Cape Town via the spectacular Sir Lowry's Pass, which offers spectacular views of the peninsula and the winelands.
